The Story Behind Zaphiron

The Name

The origin of the name Zaphiron is quite simple.

When I was choosing a name for the brand, I spent several days exploring different ideas and possibilities. One of my early favorites was Elaris, but it was already taken.

While researching other names, I came across options such as Zephyr, Saphiro, Saphiron, and other similar variations. During that process, I was reminded of a majestic dragon named Sapphiron from Warcraft III, my favorite game growing up.

For many years, I had remembered the dragon's name as Zaphiron rather than Sapphiron. When I later discovered the original spelling, I was actually glad. I had always preferred the name Zaphiron, and because it was different from the original character's name, it gave me the opportunity to build my own brand and identity around it.

The Logo

The dragon in the Zaphiron logo is connected to that story as well.

When creating the brand, I chose a dragon as its symbol for three reasons. First, I have always liked dragons. Second, dragons are one of the most recognizable symbols of fantasy. And third, the choice was a tribute to Sapphiron, the dragon that inspired the name Zaphiron in the first place.

At the same time, the dragon in the Zaphiron logo is not a copy of Sapphiron. It is my own dragon, created specifically for the brand and designed to represent Zaphiron's identity.

Interestingly, I have not played Warcraft III in many years, and I honestly do not remember exactly what Sapphiron looks like anymore. What stayed with me was not the character's appearance, but the impression it left on me. Even after all these years, I still remember Sapphiron as a majestic dragon, and that memory eventually became part of the story behind Zaphiron.

Why Woven Blankets?

The reason Zaphiron focuses on woven blankets is what makes them different from most other print-on-demand products.

With a typical printed product, the artwork is applied to the surface of the material. A woven blanket works differently. The image is created directly within the fabric itself using thousands of multicolored cotton threads.

That is what makes woven blankets so fascinating.

Rather than relying on ink, printing, or surface decoration, the design becomes part of the textile. Every color, shape, and detail emerges from the threads themselves.

Even today, there is something remarkable about seeing a detailed image take form through weaving alone. What appears at first glance to be artwork is actually fabric, thread, and craftsmanship working together to create a functional object that can be used, displayed, and enjoyed for years.
